This year has been a major trial. I'm sure some of you can agree with me. I have a sneak peek for you all at what is coming out. I can't really say it's a sneak peek, more like a teaser. Once again my cover artist did an amazing job.

Prompt #1 Part 4

Well, this is the long awaited update to my writing challenge. I'm sorry for the delays in everything, life has been really busy for me. I might even come up with a title for this... one day. Anyway, here is the next installment. It's only taken me f*cking forever.

Part 4

She forgot about the envelope as the day progressed. It wasn’t until her shift was over that she even remembered that she had stuffed it in her apron. She pulled it out of her pocket and looked at it. Her name was written on the front in beautiful cursive lettering. She tucked it into her jacket pocket as she left the diner.

A shiver went down her spine as she walked to her car. She felt like someone was watching her but she didn't see anyone. She unlocked her car door and climbed in. She couldn't shake the eerie feeling of being watched. She buckled her seat belt and drove home.

It was only a few minutes but those few minutes felt like an eternity. She ran from her to car into her apartment building. She looked outside and saw someone standing just inches from the glass door that separated them. She froze as fear spread through her. She couldn't see his face but his presence terrified her.

She slowly backed away from the door. She turned on her heel and fled up the stairs, not stopping until she was safely inside her apartment.

Billy watched her curiously from the couch. "Everything ok?"

She slid down the door and started to cry. "No. I've had this feeling of being watched since I left work. When I got inside some guy was standing outside watching me. When I saw him I froze. It was like I was looking at death. I've never been so scared."

Billy picked her up off the floor and took her to the couch. He sat down and tucked her against his chest. "Everything will be alright." He pulled off one of her shoes and threw it at the closet door. "Gladius get your ass out here."

The apartment door flew open and Gladius walked in. "I wasn't in the closet. I actually know how to use a regular door." He looked at them in disgust. "What's wrong with your little pet?"

"Someone followed her home from work and scared her," he said, tucking hair behind her ear. He leaned back and settled her beside him. "Do you think you can go take a look?"

Gladius shook his head. "I just came in from outside. I didn't sense anyone other than humans and the paras that live in this building."

Billy looked at him curiously. Usually Gladius didn't bother with coming in the front door. "You've never used the front door before/ Why now?"

Gladius' perfect cupid's bow mouth turned down. "I was trying to take into consideration your new little pet. I didn't want to walk in and unexpectedly find her naked. It is one thing to find you naked, quite another to find her naked."

"Why would you think you'd find her naked?"

A slender brow arched up. "As if you haven't seen her in all her naked glory. You lived under her bed for how long?"

Billy's face grew warm and he slightly choked as he tried to come up with an answer.

Carly pulled away from Billy her face bright red as she remembered all the things that she had done before knowing she had a roommate. Thoughts of her 'celebratory' night came to mind. Her blush deepened even more but a simmering heat started between her legs.

She watched as he argued with Gladius, noticing small little details that she hadn't noticed before. like how his shirt stretched taut across his shoulders and chest, and how his jeans cupped his ass just so nicely.

She glanced away before she got caught checking him out. She really needed some alone time with her wonderful little rabbit that she had dubbed Fernando. Or she needed to get a boyfriend. She'll go with option one. But where?

She snorted. Obviously not the bed. That was completely and utterly out. She was a lady, at least she tried to be anyway. The shower? Fernando wasn't waterproof but they did have a detachable shower head. She looked up as she noticed the complete silence in the room. "What?"

Gladius smirked and tittered before turning away. Billy just looked at her, nostrils flaring. "I said, do you want take out?"

Gladius started choking and coughing. Billy growled and whacked him on the back bringing Gladius' fit to an end.

"Uh, sure. How about Chinese? There's a place around the corner that has some really good sushi," she answered. There was definitely something going on as Gladius broke out in another coughing fit. Billy smiled but it was forced and he whacked Gladius on the back again.

She stood up and grabbed her favorite set of pajamas. "I think I'm going to take a shower. Just call the place and ask for my usual plus whatever you want."

Billy watched her as she crossed the room, almost groaning as she grabbed the set of pink pants and tank top. She had no clue to the turmoil she was causing him. He knew she only wore that set after she had 'fun'. She was going to be the death of him. Right after he killed his best friend as Gladius started having another coughing fit.

I'm Back

Hi everybody! I'm back from the black pool of nothingness. I would have been back sooner but I caught cold. I have been somewhat working on my current book. Between having a cold, issues at work, and prepping for the second biggest day of my best friends life, things have been slightly hectic.

I am not sure when I will be finished with my current project due to how much I am packing into it, but I can say this will be longer than the first two book of the Millersburg series. Once that is done I will be starting on another project right away. It sucks being behind schedule. But hey it is what it is. I am hoping to have the next installment for my writing challenge done sometime next week or sooner. I may even give it a title.

I now have an Instagram account, alicefrost2013. I've been active on there. Mostly inspirational pics.

I know it's the middle of August but I feel like the end of the year is approaching too quickly. I turned another year older not long ago (the 13th) and I don't feel like I should have had my birthday yet. It's insane. So there is my quick update for today!

Quick Update

Sorry I haven't updated with the next prompt challenge (on either blog) but I became engrossed in my work. I have been working on the third installment of the Millersburg Shifters series, Spy's Temptation. I do not know how long this book will be seeing as there is a lot I want to see go into this one. So I have a very shaky release date. It's more like 'I hope I'm done by this date'.

I have been asked if I will release all three books in a bundle pack and I will be. But before I do I am going to be going through the first two and fine tuning them just a bit before putting them in the bundle. Nothing major (I think).

I do have a couple of stories I would like to see make it onto your electronic devices but that all depends on my schedule and work *cough* procrastination *cough* level. Though I do have a bonus coming this week. My son is starting school which means I have my days off to do whatever I need to to get done with my work load.

Also, I am wishing my momma a Happy Birthday today. She turned another year older and had a great day of just relaxing. I can't wait for next month when I get a weekend of just relaxing on my birthday, no child, no work (main job), and just me and my computer. Ah, fun times to come.

Write drunk; edit sober.
- Ernest Hemingway

I hope you all have an awesome week. Since this is my Friday I'll be sleeping in for the next two days for the last time until school break. *cries* But as a single mom I am rejoicing at the fact that it is back to school time.

Prompt #1 Part 3

I am sorry for the delay on posting the next writing challenge. Pokemon Go abducted me. Yeah, I know, I'm a nerd so what? I also crochet, cross stitch, and collect Funko Pops. I also watch anime. And weirdly I still write romance stories..... So yeah I have certain quirks.

Anyway, moving on.

Obviously the name of my character doesn't match that of the prompt but hey it's my challenge. If you haven't read the first two challenges then I would suggest that you do. Prompt #1 and Part 2

He looks down at the table and then back at you, "I have been meaning to tell you this for a while now, but I didn't wan't to scare you... I am your great great great grandson and I was told to give this to you when the time came,":

Carly yawned as she walked to the diner. Her and Billy had been up late talking about how he had never realized his best friend was gay and that it had only taken her a few moments to realize it.

They had eventually decided on their sleeping arrangements as well, Billy on the lounge and her in the bed. She had been more than willing to take the lounge seeing as how the bed was a lot bigger than the one she had had and he needed more space to be comfortable. But he had declined saying that if she didn't agree he would shift and sleep under the bed.

Reluctantly she had agreed and had climbed into the massive bed that took up one entire wall. The entire apartment seemed to be bigger than before as well. Maybe it was some kind of spell, like in that Harry Potter movie she had watched a few years ago.

She waved to David through the pass-through where he was starting the lunch orders. She stashed her purse in her locker and clocked in. She grabbed one of the white frilly aprons that the waitresses were required to wear along with their usual uniform of pepto pink dress and white shoes. She grabbed a fresh order book and relieved Tory of her section.

She couldn't help but smile as Mr. Johnson walked through the door. "Mornin' Mr. Johnson. Are you sitting in your usual spot?"

The old man smiled, causing his already wrinkled face to become even more so. "I'll take my usual pot of coffee and heart attack waiting to happen burger."

She laughed. "One pot of extra strength coffee and the Baconattor coming right up."

He went to his usual booth. It was tucked back in the far corner. He always sat with his back against the wall and watched the people that came and went from the diner. Today seemed to be no different than usual, until she went to take him his food. He was sitting with his back to the door.

She placed his plate in front of him and poured him a cup of coffee. "Everything alright, Mr. Johnson?"

He looked up at her. "Why don't you have a seat with me dear?"

She looked around the diner, checking to see if anyone else needed anything. "Let me see if I can get someone to cover my section while I sit with you." She waved over Gail and asked her to cover her section while she talked to Mr. Johnson. She sat down across from him and looked at him expectantly.

He sipped his coffee. "We have a mutual friend that would like to see you go to a certain social event."

She looked at him in confusion. "I don't know what you're talking about."

He smiled at her. "Your roommate was invited to the Nightmare King's bicentennial ball. Someone wants you to go with him."

"But why? I'm just a human," she said.

He leaned forward. "You are much more than you seem." He pulled an envelope from his pocket and handed it to her. "Open this when you get home. It will explain some things that your mother kept from you." He took another sip of coffee and pulled a few dollars from his pocket. "I'll be seeing you next week, my dear. Thank you for talking with me." With that he got up and left.

Carly sat there wondering what he was talking about. Things just seemed to get weirder and weirder lately. She picked up the envelope and tucked it into her apron before clearing off the table.

NOTE: So my surprise for this post has actually been pushed off until either the next one or the one after that. Once again I am sorry for the delay in getting this up for all of you. The next post may not be prompt oriented but hey something may catch my eye.

Alice Frost on Writing

First off, to those of you here in the USA, Happy 4th of July! I hope your day is fun and filled with family, fireworks, and parades!  I'm hoping my day will be too. To everyone else, if you aren't celebrating a holiday then I hope you are just having an awesome filled day!
I can tell you that as a single mother with a full time job and a passion to become an established author that it isn't easy. Sometimes there just isn't time to write much less think. But as a new author myself the biggest piece of advice I can give any budding author out there is: Make time. Even if it is just a few minutes while the kid is in the bath and dinner is in the oven cooking. Just jot down the idea you had and slowly expand on this. I have QuickMemo on my phone and Nooote Free on my tablet, which come in handy when I'm at work. Having a voice recorder also works.
Another thing that as a new author that takes time and unfortunately money is finding a cover that fits your story, especially if you are self-publishing. Most readers, myself included, are cover shoppers. If the cover looks good then they will buy it. If you have the money to buy a professional cover then you can move forward a little faster in publishing. If you don't have the money you can save up for the one you have your eye on but you risk the chance of someone else buying before you. Or you can find a temporary cover that kind of fits your story but then you risk the chances of no one buying your book. Now there are several sites where you can get premade covers and I suggest looking through those sites like you were buying a new house. Yes, that one is what you WANT but does it fit the story? Does it have everything you NEED to express? Will it draw your potential buyer it?
Yes yes I know I am a new author myself how do I know what I'm talking about. I do a lot of research. I read a lot of reviews, about writing, and different types of writing. Do I know everything? No. But I know what steps I have taken to get my book self-published. Trial and error is ok. If you make a mistake learn from it and move on. Just don't let that mistake get you down and stop writing, editing, or publishing. Don't let anyone or anything stop you from obtaining your goals. (Unless you are a murderer/serial killer then just don't do it.)
AF out! I'm thinkin' bout doing AAF = Awesome As Fuck
I don't know what do ya'll think?

Species Compilation of Trinity Mates

This is my compile of all the different species we come across in Book 1 of the Trinity Mates.
Freorian, Hydrakian, Draconian - Human in appearance, the closer to the original blood line they are the more dragon like abilities they possess. Their height can range anywhere from 5' to 7' tall, mainly between 5' and 6' 6'' tall. Their life expectancy can span centuries. All three species are at war with each other.
Terran - Terrans are human in appearance and physiology. The main difference between the two are that Terrans live much longer than humans. They normally extend their lives even more by exchanging biological body parts for cybernetic ones.
Criptian - Small mammalian beings who are very intelligent. Their features can range from those of a mouse to those of a raccoon. All are no taller than 4' and they are the natural prey to the Kartorians.
Kartorian - Lizard like beings that stand anywhere from 6' tall to 9' tall depending on age and gender. The smaller the Kartorian to weaker they are considered. Most leave their home planet due to the harassment of the larger Kartorian. They are a hostile and violent race known to cause mayhem where ever they go. Males are usually smaller than the females. An off world male Kartorian never breeds with a female of his own race. He usually kidnaps a female from any human like race.
Grenicks - Small amphibious beings known to be cannibalistic. They are very resilient and are known to travel in large groups. Kartorians are known to use them in battle as their first wave of attack.
Credorian - They are a small humanoid race that stand no taller than 4'. Even though they are highly advanced and intelligent they are very trusting and naive. Most become historians for cities, countries, or even entire worlds. A select few become accountants and investors.
Arachni - Spider-like beings. They are a horrible combination of human and spider. They have the ability to shift between the two forms and even shift into a hybrid of the two. They are mostly female. Females are exceedingly attractive and 'marry' men, use them to breed the next generation and then devour them. Males, who are also highly attractive, can only be found on their home planet. Males are much larger than females and are known to breed several females at once. If a female attempts to attack the male he tears her apart and leaves her for the other females.

Prompt #1 Part 2

My brother has expressly asked (told) that I finish my prompt story or he will stop feeding me. Me being the fat girl I am can't let this happen. (Yes I am a BBW and I use the word fat towards myself. Get over it.) So as per His Royal Highness Dork-fer-brains has asked, I will continue with the story.

Also, everything is unedited. So if something doesn't make sense or sounds weird it's because I'm not extensively editing it like I normally would.

"But Jack! Look at him!" Izzy held up the mouse, and Jack flinched away a bit.:

Billy snorted at her. "Do I look like a Mogwai? Yes I can eat after midnight and I can get in water and stay there as long as I want. My kind reproduce in the usual way."

"Oh?" Carly asked.

"Yes, when we are ready for a youngling we cut off our hands and watch them regenerate," he said with a straight face.

She stared at him in horror. "Really?!"

He burst out laughing. "No, not really. We reproduce just like humans."

"So what exactly are you? I know that you look like a gremlin but that doesn't mean that is what you are," she said.

He looked at her solemnly. She was definitely different from any human he had ever met. But there had to be something special about her if the landlady rented out to her. "My dad was a selkie and my mom was a dragon. It screwed up my genetics, hence the green skin and gremlin like appearance when I shift."

She blushed and bit her lip. "I think you're cute in either form." She kept her eyes downcast, afraid that she might have freaked him out.

"For a human you are quite strange," he replied, stunned at her confession.

The closet door banged open, startling them both. A tall figure draped in bright purple fabric stepped out of the inky depths. The figure stood still for a moment before pushing the fabric from it's face. If it wasn't for his golden goatee, Carly would have thought he was a woman of the supermodel variety.

"Haven't I told you never to keep a human for a pet. They are so needy. Constantly needing food and attention. We've talked about this," the man said, his voice soft and lyrical.

Billy shook his head. "She isn't my pet, Gladius, she's my new roommate. What's with the dramatic entrance?"

Gladius sat down on Carly's little bed and leaned back. He was the epitome of gracefulness. "I just came back from a visit to the old hag's place."

"Your mother isn't a hag, she's the Goddess of Beauty," Billy retorted.

Gladius just snorted. "She's a hag. She refuses to acknowledge  that she even gave birth to me." He sighed. "Sometimes it sucks being the bastard child of a goddess and the King of Nightmares."

"At least you know your father," Carly said quietly. "Mine took off the moment he found out Momma was pregnant with me."

Gladius leaned forward, examining her. "You are an interesting human. I didn't think your kind were allowed to even step foot in this place." He looked sharply at Billy, who just shrugged in indifference.

"I still haven't figured out why the landlady rented out to her but she doesn't have an issue with either of my forms," he said.

Gladius looked around the apartment. "What happened to all your beautiful things?"

Billy looked at him drolly. "The landlady rented out my apartment to a human and put all my stuff in storage. Need I say more?"

Gladius stared at him in horror. "How could she?!" He stood up and clapped his hands. "We'll fix that right this instant." He looked over at Carly disdainfully. "You don't have a problem with me getting rid of your things do you?"

She shook her head. "I don't mind. I just don't want to be a problem for anyone." She grabbed a few things from around the apartment. "This is all I need."

Billy looked at the pile curiously. "What's all that?"

She smiled, remembering the history of the items at her feet. "They're things that Momma gave me."

Gladius snorted. "You're one of those people that absolutely adore their parents, aren't you?"

She shrugged. "Why shouldn't I adore the woman that gave birth to me and raised me all by herself? She endured many hardships to make sure that I had everything I needed in life. Why would it be wrong to adore and look up to her?"

Gladius sneered in distaste. "Please don't preach to me about how wonderful your mother is. Mine may be the most beautiful being in existence, but her beauty is only skin deep."

Carly looked at Billy who held up his hands in defeat. "My mother was more into collecting all the shiny trinkets she could get her claws on. I mostly fended for myself."

"Enough of this," Gladius said. He snapped his fingers and the room around them twisted, when it righted itself all of her old things had been replaced with beautiful furnishings. "You're welcome."

Billy sat down on the lounge that had appeared in front of the window. "Thanks. Just one little problem. I still have a roommate and only one bed."

Gladius chuckled. "I'm sure you two will figure something out. Vale, my loves." He stopped just in front of the closet door. "I almost forgot. The King of Nightmares has invited you to his bicentennial ball. He expects you to bring a date this time."

Billy groaned. "Let me guess, if I don't he and my mother will find me someone to spend the evening with."

"You got it," he replied before leaving through the closet.

Carly looked at Billy. "Bicentennial ball?"

He sighed in aggravation. "Don't worry about it. So what did you think about meeting a new supernatural being?"

She pressed her lips together. If she said what was going through her mind then she would definitely be seeing Momma rise from the grave. But how could she resist? "Does he get the irony of being gay and constantly go in and out of a closet?"

Billy started laughing. He hadn't even noticed the irony of it until she pointed it out.

NOTE: In regards to this last few sentences, I am not bashing on the LGBT community. I am bi. I make jokes about things that are relevant to me. Plus, I have a surprise brewing for the next post that has to do with this. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this. I am sure there will be many more to come. Have a happy 4th of July weekend!

NOTE 2: Vale = Goodbye in Latin

Writing Fantasy

I love writing fantasy and science fiction stories. But the one thing that I hate doing is research. Why would I need to research anything for a fantasy story? A lot of stuff. It may not be apparent when you write your story but later on you might see that things don't quite connect. Some authors are ok with things not quite connecting but not everyone is. I am one such person.
1. What Is Your Story About?
This is normally called the plot but I'm a little different. So what is happening in this story? Is your characters going on an epic quest or are we just going to see a small snippet of your fantasy world? Is this a big enough story to have a map and even languages?
J.R.R. Tolkien had not only maps of his world but even created a language for the Lord of the Rings series and The Hobbit. You may not think these things matter but you may have a reader that wants these things.
2. Types of Fantasy
You may think that this should have been first but as I've stated before I do things a little bit different. There is a WIDE variety of fantasy out there and you can mix them as much as you want as long as you make it sound plausible. So you could have androids with unicorns as long as it is plausible then have fun with it.
Cyborg leprechauns, FYI.
They can be a thing. Anyway once you have decided what your story is about then you can decide just how fantastical you want to be. But what about my characters? Just hang on we are getting there.
3. Characters
I already have a blog post about making believable characters. So basically you just have to do the normal routine on your character and if you find something new to add into your fantasy world then go ahead and do it. You may even find out that your plot/story line whatever changes, even expands. Yea, yea whatever. But sometimes a change in the plot line is fine.
4. Writing The Story
Now the hard part begins, writing the story. Don't stop writing until you have finished. Just remember to let yourself be creative (it's part of writing). Yes I know this is a short redundant tutorial but hey I like writing these.
What are you still doing reading this? Go. Go write your story. It's never going to be read if you never write it.

NOTE: I originally wrote this on my Wordpress blog. I have decided to copy the posts over to here cuz you guys need some lovin' too.

Character Development

Coming up with characters is as easy as pie, but coming up with BELIEVABLE characters is a whole different piece of pie. I know each writer has a different process of how they write their characters. Now I will be giving you a tour of how I do this process.
1. Motivation - I start with what motivates my character. Is my character doing this because of x, y, or z? This brings me a clear view of how their personality will be. So if my character had to rob a bank then I want to know WHY he had to.
Example: Joe Bob needed to rob the bank to pay off the mafia boss that he had borrowed money from so they don't take their payment out of his flesh.
Once you have figured out the WHY then we can move onto the next step.
2. Background - I have had some writers tell me that they don't do a background on their characters but I feel that having one makes my characters a little more believable and relatable (at least to me). When we have our motives then we need to know why our character feels they need to go about it that particular way.
Example: Joe Bob grew up in a bad part of town, raised by a single mom who worked as a prostitute for the mafia. He wasn't a good student and never graduated from high school and the only job he has ever had was with the mafia. He slowly developed a drug habit and began borrowing more and more money to supply his habit.
Ok so now we know that Joe Bob hasn't had a great life. He might have had small moments of happiness but that all depends on how much background you want to put into your characters.
3. Personality - Personality is a tough one for me. I have a tendency to give my characters snarky personalities in the beginning. But not all characters stay that way. As with each person, each character has a unique personality and quirks.
Example: Joe Bob has a Napoleon complex. He is very domineering and aggressive which was only made worse by his drug habit.
4. Description - Describing a character can be really easy or it can be extremely hard. I always look at my characters background and their motivations before I start putting their description together. To make your character more believable their physical description needs to 'fit' their personality.
Example: Joe Bob is very short and underweight. His hair is unwashed and a dull brown color. His eyes are a bloodshot brown color. He has track marks covering his arms.
5. Naming Your Character - Obviously Joe Bob was given a name but lets give him an official name. Now poor Joe Bob has a bad history and isn't the greatest looking guy.
Honestly, he is completely forgettable but that's how I want him to be. Now if we look at my poor character we know he didn't grow up in a great neighborhood and has ties to the mafia. Joe Bob is not what his name should be. Why? Because it doesn't fit him.
What would be a good name for my unimpressive character? A name that is equally unimpressive. I think I will call him Keith. Now that we have a name for him it is time to write his story. Either way the end for Keith is always the same, death.
If he succeeds in robbing the bank the cops shoot and kill him before he gets away. If he doesn't succeed then the mafia makes him an example. He newspaper article never makes it to the front page, he's relegated to page 8.
Yes poor Keith's story is a dark path of misery but that is how I wrote him. When writing characters every piece influences the character you create. Now Keith could have had to steal the money to get his mother off the streets as a prostitute. His story all depends on you and what you make it to be.

Dark Things

I stopped using this blog a few months ago to switch over to Wordpress. I've talked about this before. I missed all of you. But there is another blog that I have abandoned for much longer that this one.

It was the blog were I let all my darkness seep out into and I left it behind so long ago. I think it's time to bring it back to life. I haven't touch it since November of last year and seeing the dust on it while the darkness swirls inside makes me want to cry.

So starting next week I'll slowly be resurrecting My Zombieverse. I won't be posting on there as regularly as I will be on here but I'm thinking that once the darkness begins to rise again then things will right themselves.

Most of the posts on there circle around Halloween but it's how my blog was before then that I want to get back to. The zombies. That's right. I, a romance author, loves zombies. Reading, movies, makeup, games. I love zombies. I have so many ideas for zombie stories but it doesn't fit within my writing parameters. Another reason for my writing challenge. I want to send my writing to the darkest parts of the horror realm and see what I can do.

Will I lose some readers? Maybe. But then I'll also gain readers who like the darkness spewing from within me. Will I mix my romance roots with the darkness that I'll be stepping into? Most likely. But I am trying to push my boundaries and see what I can do. If I publish anything that comes from my dark writing challenge I'll probably do so under a different pen name.

Yes, I use a pen name. I'm surprised if you haven't figured it out. Why do I use a pen name? I felt that I needed a fresh start. My original works were not something to be applauded. The concept of the stories were great but ultimately I felt that they were not what I wanted to present to my readers. So my pen name came about.

Now that I have gotten off track I'm going to say that if ya'll want to check out Zombieverse then please do. I'll be doing my dark writing challenge over on there so please keep an eye out for any updates (I'll mention them on here and Wordpress).

New Things

Hi everyone! *ducks* Hey! I know you want the next writing prompt but that's no reason to throw things! I'm actually working on it AND my next book. Seeing as how I'm completely and utterly behind schedule I'm sorry. *cries in corner* I've disappointed all of you and myself! But I'll have something for you soon. I swear!

But I came today to tell you that my next prompt is tied in with the first prompt. If I continue writing on this lovely story I might publish it and make it a free book. Fun stuff right?

Update on myself: I dyed my hair a purple pinkish black color. And chopped a ton of hair off. But I forgot about donating my hair! *sobs* I'm also going to start working out. I've gained some weight (a lot) since I had my son. I weigh almost 100 lbs more than I did before I got pregnant. I will not tell you exact numbers but I am a big girl. I'd like to get back down to my pre-baby weight. Especially now that he'll be 7 and he's an extremely active kid.

I'll even document the whole process on here and my other social media sites. I can say I'll be watching Coach Tulin on YouTube and talking to my doctor about an acceptable weight loss plan and diet.

I will be a very busy girl in the coming months. Especially since I plan on rolling out at least two more books in the next five months.

I hope all of you are doing ok and that you are having an awesome summer. In my neck of the woods, school will be starting in about month (oh thank you Jesus). The food bill at my house sky rocketed since school let out.

I also want to shout out to one of my besties who is writing her first book. It's a historical romance and I think it's going to rock! Totally biased I know, but hey who cares? While critiquing her rough draft I realized that I'm pretty good at giving writing advice even though I'm bad at listening to my own advice. I know over on Wordpress I've written a couple of posts on writing but I'm thinking that I either need to start doing that more or offer critiques on Fiverr. Yea, yea more work for me but the more I write the better at it I will become.

I'm also going to plop this down below. I've been quoting The Croods to my son a lot lately. I think all of you can benefit from it too. Reach for your dream and don't ever stop.

Prompt #1

Writing prompt:

Carly groaned in frustration. How was she supposed to pay the rent, buy food, and replace the spark plugs on her car? She pulled the crumpled bills from her apron and thumbed through them. $20 in tips from a ten hour shift. She threw the rent bill towards her bed, only to watch it flutter underneath. Looks like she was going to be cleaning out from underneath there...

She stared in a mixed sense of horror and fascination as a scaly green human-like hand with long black claws shoved the rent bill and a stack of cash out from underneath her bed. She hesitantly approached the cash. She bent and picked up the rent bill and cash, whispering 'Thank you' as she stood up.

Momma had always taught her to have good manners. She didn't think Momma had meant with whatever was living underneath her bed but it was better to be safe than sorry. She was sleeping right above his... her... it's living quarters.

She headed for the door, excited to actually be paying the rent on time and not hearing her landlady scream about being evicted through the door. She stopped as she placed her hand on the door handle and turned back to the bed. "You live here too. You don't have to stay hidden under the bed anymore." She smiled before turning the handle and opening the door. Strangely, it felt like she was stepping into a better future as she stepped through the doorway.

When she returned there was no sign of anyone there. She was disappointed but knew she would eventually meet her strange but new roommate. She tucked the receipt for the rent in her lock box. She refused to just toss them anywhere willy-nilly, that's how she lost her last apartment. Now she kept every single receipt and scrap piece of paper she received from the landlady that way she couldn't be swindled again.

She tucked the lock box back underneath the cabinet and sat down at her kitchen table. There was enough extra money to buy groceries, replace the spark plugs on her car, maybe even buy a new kitchen table or a futon for her roommate.

She glanced at the bed. "You going to introduce yourself or am I going to have to assume that I have gone insane and am sitting in a padded cell having delusions?"

She heard a deep, raspy chuckle come from beneath the bed.

"I will come out when the sun has set."

She looked over to the window. It was dark out but the light from all the signs and buildings made it seem earlier than it was. She grabbed a heavy blanket from the closet and hung it up the best she could, muttering about her next purchase being blackout curtains. She turned back towards the bed, hands on her hips. "This is as dark as it's going to get. It's after midnight and being in the city means it's going to bright out even at night."

She heard a aggravated sigh before two hands came out from beneath her bead. The hands were quickly followed by lean, muscular arms, a head of long black hair, broad shoulders, a wide chest, lean hips and long muscular legs, then a set of thin masculine feet. He had to stand of 6 feet tall.

She looked from him to the bed and then back to him. "How the hell did you fit under there?"

He shrugged. "I can change shape." He lifted his arm. "My color not so much."

She finally stopped puzzling about how he had fit under her bed to really look at him. And look at him she did. He was the kind of guy that every woman dreamed of having in her bed. Or at least close enough to drool over. If they didn't mind someone that looked like he had been dipped in green ink and hadn't ever known what fingernail clippers were.

She couldn't help looking at him. He was a piece of perfection. Green perfection but still. Her eyes kept drifting lower until they stopped at his hips and she realized he was completely naked.

She whirled around, her face growing hot. "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have been looking at you like that!"

"Like what?" he asked, puzzled.

"Like you're some sex figure. Momma always taught me that people are people not sex figures, be it man or woman," she said. And if Momma had seen how she had been staring at that poor man she would have smacked her upside the head before reprimanding her.

She had only ever seen a male physique as wonderful as his in magazines she had found it hard not to stare at him. Oh how Momma would paddle her behind for staring at him as if he was a sex figure.

She heard him start chuckling before all out laughing. He coughed and cleared his throat. "I guess it's a good thing that I'm not a sex figure then."

"You sure look like one," she said, keeping her eyes on the curtain in front of her.

"So I'm guessing that I'm going to have to change back into my other form or find a set of clothes?"

She quickly nodded her head. As long as she could keep her hands off of him then things would work out. If she touched him then it would be sexual harassment and Momma would come up out of her grave and tan the ever-living hide off of her.

She heard him groan and sigh in relief. "You can turn around now."

She turned back towards him and looked down at him. "You're a gremlin?"

He snarled in irritation. "If you are comparing me to the gawd awful movie then please do me a favor and don't."

She knelt down and looked him over. "But you look just like them."

"Because the director knew me and thought it would be funny to have the monsters of his film look like me," he growled. "That's what I get for going and getting drunk."

"Ok, so no gremlin jokes. By the way, my name's Carly," she said holding out her hand.

He looked from her hand to her face. He placed his small scaly hand in hers and slowly shook it. "My name's Billy."

"Why are you living under my bed?" she asked.

"Because that idiot landlady rented out my apartment while I was still living here," he snorted. He turned towards her bed and hopped up on it. "I guess we'll be entering the honeymoon phase now."

"Huh?" she asked, curiously.

He waved his hand around. "You know. That phase where we get to know each other."

"Oh. I do have a few questions. Am I the only one that knows you are here?"

"No, the landlady knows along with several other tenants but until another apartment opens up I can't move out."

"Why can't you move to another apartment complex?"

"Don't you know?" He looked at her suspiciously. "This complex only rents out to monsters."

"But I'm human," she said.

He looked at her in horror. "You're human? But your kind isn't supposed to be allowed to live here."

She shrugged. "No one asked if I was a monster."

His eyes narrowed and he looked her over, inquisitively. "You're taking this awfully well for a human."

She smiled. "Momma taught me that not everything in this world is black and white. Sometimes there are things that we can't explain and that just because we can't explain it doesn't mean we should be scared of it."

He laughed. "You are one strange human. Do you think you can handle living with someone like me until another apartment comes open?"

She shrugged. "I think I could I just have a couple more questions. Are you allowed to get wet? And can you eat after midnight?"

NOTE: I love Gremlins! This is not meant to bash the movie in any way shape or form. I thought it would be funny to have it in there as a running joke for the prompt.

I'm Back!

So I've been doing a lot of things lately and I have found that I'm not posting as much on Wordpress as I was on here... Yea go figure.

Why?

I decided it (Wordpress) was all going to be about my work as a writer. I made it impersonal. So, I am going to be doing little things to start back up with my daily/almost daily blogging. And one thing I have decided to do is start doing writing prompts. Little things that I can post and see how well they do before expanding on them into full length stories. (We'll see how well I stick to this.)

I'll also be slowly integrating my zombieverse blog onto here. I let it die. :( I have gotten away from things that brought me joy and I noticed as I was working on my latest book that I wasn't happy with how it was linking up. Then I realized I wasn't happy. I was stressed about work (writing and 40hr+ at the main job), about my son, and that I wasn't spending any time doing something I LOVE. I love to read. How many books have I read since Galaxing Around was published?

Two.

I have read two books in two months. Now for some this may sound like a usual thing but for me I read two books in a matter of days. Sherrilyn Kenyon's last League novel, Born of Betrayal (512 pages), I read in a day. Love this series btw.

I'm going to start reading again. I'm going to start setting aside time for myself and getting on here to talk to all of you (that still hang around). I'm going to start enjoying the things I stopped doing.

New Blog

I will be slowly moving my blog over to WordPress. Don't worry I will still be updating on here as I do. I will announce when I have officially moved over there before I deactivate this one. I hate to do this but I can only do so much here on blogger. You can check out my new blog at https://alicefrostblog.wordpress.com/. I haven't put anything NEW on there I have only moved posts I feel have some relevancy. I am hoping to have some new posts on there within the next few weeks.

Galaxing Around

This book is taking up all my free time. I could be sitting down reading a book, or taking a shower, and I'll start thinking about my characters. I have reached a larger number of pages than my first two novellas so this one might actually reach novel length.

I will be doing a few character guides and a few excerpts for ya'll. I am hoping to have the cover by the end of the month or beginning of February. As per my usual I am tearing my hair out because I can't wait to see the cover myself.

I am also hoping to figure out the title for MS3. This has been driving me nuts because I have the title figured out for MS4 and 5 but 3 is just kicking my butt. I have posted a poll on my twitter account with the possible titles. If you want to head on over there and give them a look it would be much appreciated.

Writing with Depression

One of the reasons I haven't been on my A game is the fact that I have been dealing with a severe bout of depression. I am sorry for that. I know a lot of my readers have strayed away due to my inactivity and I am sorry that I caused that. But I can say that I do see the light from this current bout.

Now dealing with my depression hasn't been easy. It never is. It isn't easy for anyone. It's not like you can hit the switch from sad to happy. I know it's easy to flip that switch from happy to sad and that it is a struggle to flip it back. I have heard many things that I could do to 'fix' myself. There is no 'fixing' this there is only making it through the storm. And each of us is very different from the other so my way of making it through the storm will be different from your way.

One of the things I have been told I can do is get myself on medication. Yes this might help for some people but after several years of depression and anxiety I've learned that meds and me don't mix. I become angry and downright hateful. This is not a good thing. Not for me or my family.

I'm sure you are wondering why I titled this Writing with Depression. I have gotten into a habit that when I feel my depression coming on I grab my notebook and force myself to write. This isn't always easy. But if you are writing a sad or angry scene I found that it helps me through this. I have also learned that if I am battling depression I also end up with uber sappy love scenes. Not sex scenes. Love scenes. Scenes where one is professing their love but the other is just not ready or doesn't trust the person. Yea, I'm mean like that.

Is this method going to work for everyone? No. I used to write poetry. Very horrible poetry at that. I've also found that by doing something different like coloring, painting, dancing, singing, or even crocheting. Yes, I crochet. But doing these things help.

When I was younger I used to walk to the park and then walk the trails, then walk back to my house. Unfortunately I can no longer do that due to me being a single mom and I refuse to leave my child alone in the house. Yes, I am a protective parent. Every parent should be. But that is not part of this post. I get sidetracked enough as it is.

Anyway, what I am saying is that don't let depression get to you. Yes it happens but don't let it rule your life. You are the king/queen of your life and you can do what you want (as long as it isn't breaking any laws). If you want to write that novel but feel that you just don't have the strength to pick up the pencil or put your fingers on a keyboard then that should give you even more motivation to do it. Don't let depression or anxiety rule you.

I haven't written a post like this for a while and this was long overdue. Can I say that there will be more posts like this in the future? I have no clue. My nicely plotted out plan for blogs and my writing was blown out of the water. So keep an eye out for future posts.

Quick Update

I have been working on my next book diligently but I though I would have been done by now. Nope, I am still working on it and I am not even close with being done with it. So my plan for this week, since I am on a mini vacation from work, is to bust through this book and start on Millersburg Book 3. Oh, I also have a working title for my current project.

I can definitely say that the manuscript that I am working on is most likely going to be the longest story I publish, though since I haven't started on M3 then I won't know for certain. I do have a working title for my next book and will hopefully have the cover next week along with another wonderful surprise.

I am hoping to get back into the swing of things with my blog updates and whatnot. I will start giving myself monthly goals. I will also be bringing my zombie blog back online. It sort of crashed and burned during the holiday season.

I would write about my goals and expectations of myself but I haven't quite gotten all of them written down yet. As soon as I do I will tell all of you on here.

New Year, New Things

As I am writing this it is only the 3rd day into the new year and I can honestly say it has been a very rocky start. I am sure some of you remember that I am a working single mom. (I know others have it worse off) but my new manager has already told me that I suck at my job (those words in a polite, correct wording) and that if I don't fix it then he will replace me. Yay! Right?

Now I am looking for some way to work from home. I have found a couple of good possibilities which is great but until I have a steady income things will be kind of rocky for us. I can't say how often I will be able to get on here until things are more stable but I am still working on my next book which as you know is not part of the Millersburg Shifters. I do have plans for 2016 and I am hoping that they come to fruitation this year as well.

So in closing (of this post) I can only say that with a new year brings new changes, new things. I hope your new year is fruitful and inspiring.
