Having Fun

Having a fun day today. Not a whole lot of writing (at the moment) but without laughter what is life?

It has been brought to my attention that one of my favorite authors is thinking about doing a giveaway. I would like to help her but I honestly don't think I have enough followers to truly help her out. But we will see what happens in the next couple of days. And yes I have been thinking about getting swag for my Millersburg Shifters.

If you see a woman walking around with a Pikachu on her head that may be me. I got it in my Loot Crate today! Pure awesomeness!

Three Days!

I'm almost done with the rough draft of book 2. I have been working a lot faster now that I have gotten past my reservations. I know that I want people to like my books but there is that fear that no one will like my writing style that stops me cold in my tracks.

I'm hoping to have BK 2 done by the end of the year but I also have a couple of personal projects that I want to accomplish too. Like finishing the blanket I started crocheting for my brother and my winter hats. Also I am on the lookout for the cover for book 2. I haven't found anything yet but I am determined to be successful!

So keep a lookout for updates and possible sneak peaks!

I made a minor price adjustment to Triple Threat. It is now .99 instead of 2.99! With just 6 more days until the release of Triple Threat I can say I am excited! I hope you all enjoy the first volume of the Millersburg Shifters series!

Eve Langlais Shoutout

I LOVE Eve Langlais! Yes I am an EveL Minion and proud of it! I can't tell you how much I adore her books. So I am pimping her out and telling everyone about her new book that is coming out on September 15. Here is a few short snippets and then an awesome excerpt from book 4! I hope you enjoy I know I did!

Title: A Tiger’s Bride
Series: #4 A Lion’s Pride
Author: Eve Langlais
Pretty Links:

Description:
When at first you don’t succeed–turn to abduction.
It’s all in a day’s work when this Russian Siberian tiger meets the woman he wants.
An accidental kidnapping? Check.
A forced marriage? Check.
A virgin bride? Damn. There go his plans for seduction and here comes the pressure into making her first time perfect. Because everyone knows that’s the one she’ll remember, forever. Gulp.
Add in a plane crash as well as hunters out to capture them and the heat is truly on.
Can this suave Russian mobster meet the challenge?

Short snippets:

#1:
A murmur went through the crowd, and he caught the phrase, repeated more than once by a few people present, “Here comes trouble.”
Surely they didn’t speak of the goddess he currently undressed with his eyes.
Riveted, he couldn’t help but stare at the statuesque blonde as she walked the aisle with grace, head held high, long neck tempting, hips swishing. The picture of elegance. At least she was until her heel caught on a wrinkle in the red carpet and she squeaked as she went flying.

#2:
She tried one last protest. “You really don’t want to do this.”
He didn’t think she tread on his foot on purpose. “We are dancing, little kitten, so you might as well hush and enjoy it.”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” was her ominous reply.
While her words promised one thing, her actual reaction proved the opposite. As they moved in a four step, her body lost its rigid tenseness, limbs loosening, her movements falling in line with his. Their tempo matched, their bodies synchronized.
Dmitri added some flair to their steps, and to his delight, she adapted, her hips swiveling, her feet stepping, and her smile beaming while her eyes lit with enjoyment.
He chose to ignore that their wild movements caused some people to dart out of the way. That was their own fault for dancing too close to a pair of suns because, yes, in his mind, they were both quite brilliant.
Again, not arrogance, just plain fact.

#3:
Now some would probably say, if he knew he was being chased, and if he valued his hide, then all he had to do was give Teena up. Leave her behind and go home.
To that, the man, not the beast, growled, “Hell no.”
But escaping with her was only part of the steps to ensure their future. Once he reached his homeland, he’d have only a little time to convince her to keep him before the council became involved. They tended to frown on shifters, even practically royal ones, abducting women.
Apparently it was so eighteen hundreds.

Long Excerpt:

Awareness came with the speed of cold honey spooling from a dangling spoon. Slowly. So slowly, and that was why it took the third time for her to grasp someone spoke.
“Say I do.”
“Hunh?” Eyes closed, and the lids too heavy to lift, her mouth a fuzzy peach in need of water, Teena’s mind struggled to wake from the most molasses sleep ever.
“Say I do,” hissed an accented voice, a voice that seemed familiar. But it was the scent that made her smile. Manly musk intermixed with a spicy cologne. It seemed her Russian admirer was still at her side. Had she fallen asleep on him at the party?
It was so hard to remember.
“Repeat after me. I. Do.”
What did she do? Forcing her brain into gear, she strove to recall events. Last she remembered, she was weaving back to the house after her sister’s wedding—drunk as hell because she was so mad at her interfering family—when Dmitri, that sexy Russian, waylaid her. He’d made sure the ground didn’t get fresh with her body parts. Instead, he let them get fresh with his solid frame.
He held her in his arms. Said stuff. Nice stuff. But forget that and fast forward to the exciting part where he kissed her.
Oh my. Upon her he bestowed a masterful kiss that melted her. She remembered the sense of weakness in her limbs. The roam of his hands, then…?
Her brow wrinkled. She couldn’t recollect anything past the amazing kiss.
Nothing. At all.
Had she seriously fallen asleep during the most intense embrace of her life?
Was this why Dmitri held her in his arms, his musky scent surrounding her? “Wake, little kitten. Just for a moment. I need you to say I do.”
“I do?” Do what? Surely he didn’t demand permission to kiss her again? Was he after something else? Blerg. She wished her brain wasn’t such a sluggish mess.
Giving her cobwebbed thoughts a mental shake, she pried her eyes open in time to see Dmitri’s handsome face hovering close to hers. She also heard the words, “I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.”
What!
Before she could grasp what had happened, lips pressed against hers in a molten touch that melted her questions and awakened a fire. The kiss didn’t help her regain her senses. On the contrary, she slipped into a pleasurable state with only one real thought in mind—more.
More kisses. More heat. More Dmitri.
The arms wrapped around her body held her upright and a good thing, too, seeing as how her legs had the consistency of soft rubber. A tiny part of her remarked she should protest, or at least make an effort to assert some kind of control.
She wasn’t firing on all cylinders. A sluggishness still held her. It occurred to her she should cry and be frightened, and yet…
She truly was enjoying the soft mesh of lips and the warmth of his breath. Or she was until she found herself deposited in a chair. Talk about a rude awakening.
Her body lamented the loss of the warmth from his while her inner lioness meowed in frustration. A frustration she understood all too well, given the ardor he woke refused to settle so easily.
Struggling against the lassitude in her body, she managed to flutter her eyes open, not that it helped her comprehension much. She didn’t recognize her surroundings.
A pen was pushed into her hands. “Sign here,” Dmitri’s accented voice purred in her ear.
“What is it?” she muttered through numb lips as she struggled to remain awake. She peered blearily at the white sheet in front of her, to no avail. The words on the paper wavered.
“It is what you want.”
Truly? Because…I want him.
Without giving it a second thought, she signed.
Then he did too, using the same pen she had, his bold signature alongside hers on the marriage certificate.
Blink.
Re-read.
Nope, the words on the paper hadn’t change.
She stabbed a finger at the paper, not trusting herself to speak. But if she had, it might have sounded a lot like her father, but with fewer swear words. What the fuck just happened?
He answered her unspoken question. “We are husband and wife, little kitten.”
Oh my. How unexpected.
Married. She was married. To Dmitri. I am married to the tiger.
Hunh, a coerced wedding, a first for the family and certainly never a disaster her sister had ever managed.
Point for me?
No, because Meena evaded Dmitri’s plans.
I, on the other hand, fell like a domino. Worse, I didn’t see it coming. I really thought he liked me. Thought he’d meant it when he said he would woo her and prove his intent.
What a jerk, kidnapping her like this and marrying her on the sly. Making her his wife.
His wife?
Could a lioness giggle? Her inner feline certainly seemed a tad too pleased.
His mate. The mental rumble vibrated through her body like a ghostly purr, one that left her senses alive.
Are you going to stand up and assert your rights?
“You can’t force me to marry you. Tell him.” She addressed the latter to the man dressed in a suit with a clerical collar of black and white, some kind of religious guy.  Surely he wouldn’t condone this farce. “Tell him it doesn’t count because I didn’t agree.”
“You said I do,” Dmitri reminded her.
“Because you told me to while I wasn’t even awake. It doesn’t count. And why is that priest ignoring me?”
“Little kitten, if you calm down, we can—”
“I will not calm down.” She lunged from the chair, only belatedly realizing the flimsiness of it.
The plastic bucket chair with its metal legs, a relic from the seventies, cracked. The hand she’d used to push off slid as the plastic snapped, and she lost her balance. Tipping sideways, she threw out her hand, but her reflexes were still kind of woozy and she missed, hitting the floor with her shoulder then a ricochet of her head. Damned industrial marble floor. She lay there, at an angle, stunned, and also exposing a lot more leg than she should. Through squinted eyes, she noted her skirt riding high on her hip.
Dmitri noticed too. Interest smoldered in his gaze, a gaze stolen by the collared man, who cleared his throat.
How dare he steal Dmitri’s attention?
Grrrr.
Who growled?
“Now, now, little kitten, give me a moment to deal with this obviously brave man, daring your vicious rage.”
“I am not vicious.” Vicious was her sister.
“I think you’re tougher than you know.”

Don't Hit The Button!

I did it. I hit that button that sent my baby off into the internet. Triple Threat is now up for pre-order. I can honestly say that I am proud of myself but at the same time I'm scared out of my mind. I'm almost as scared as when I put my son on his school bus for the very first time. I have questions flying through my head. Did I miss something? What if it was screwed up during formatting? What if no one likes it? What if one bad review sends everyone running? What if... What if... I feel like a high schooler again with all these insecurities! If you happen to see a woman hyperventilating into a brown paper bag then that may be me.

I know I promised this story much sooner but as I was editing I found two large plot holes that I had to take care of before I could put it up for pre-order. I'm sorry that it has taken this long to publish it. Once again thank you Shayla Mist for my beautiful cover. At this time I do not have the link to the pre-order but I will be doing another blog post with the link to it. If you do buy Triple Threat please leave a review when you get it I would much appreciate it! Thank you all for your patience.

Pre-Order

Triple Threat will be going up for pre-order within the next few weeks. I know that everyone has been seeing me post about Triple Threat for ages now, but please remember I work a full-time job and I am a single mother so I don't get to marathon write like some authors out there.

Here is the blurb for Triple Threat:

Were-bear Charise Miller hates her life. Forced to uphold her betrothal to a man she hates, her life takes an even more miserable turn. When her mates walk into her place of work to confront her boss, she realizes that she has not one but three gorgeous men that are meant to be hers. The only problem, they don't know she belongs to them. But when a shadow from her past starts to stalk her she realizes she has to make a choice.

Run or come out of hiding and let her mates claim her.

This novel is intended for mature audiences only and contains a feisty and sarcastic were-bear willing to take out anyone who comes close to her men. This book contains alpha males, a hot office scene, and M/F/M/M content.

Triple Threat Chapter 1

I know I have posted a few chapters from other stories but I would really like feedback on this one in particular. This is the first true romance story I have written and I'm not going to lie I am a little nervous about it. So if you feel like taking a moment and shooting me an email or leaving a comment it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Chapter 1

‘Why am I dealt this hand of crap?’ Charise thought.
Perfect example - being left to deal with her boss’s fuck ups, and to be the next meal for Xavier, the oldest of the Leo brothers. Which she wouldn’t mind in the least, with his icy blue eyes and luscious locks, if he hadn’t been glaring down at her at that exact moment. Even though he was madder than hell she couldn’t help but notice how his shirt stretched across his shoulders and chest.
“I’m sorry that your client has decided to go with Cougar Construction, Mr. Leo. If you would like to talk to Mr. Kale I can call him for you.” She began to feel fidgety as he continued to glare at her. She was torn between wanting to climb under the desk and hide, and shifting to her bear and run at top speed out of there.
“You can tell Jack that if I find him sniffing around our clients again, I will skin him alive and have myself a new tiger skin rug,” he growled. He turned on his heel and stalked out of my office, giving me a perfect view of his tight ass.
She jumped as he slammed the door closed. She sighed and slumped over the keyboard. ‘Why did the three hottest men on earth have to own the competition? Life is so not fair.’ She grabbed the phone and dialed Jack.
“You know, if you are going to steal clients from the competition you can at least give me a heads up?” Charise growled as Jack picked up.
“Sorry, but I was kind of distracted at the time,” Jack purred.
“Meaning you were rolling around in bed with Ms. Calley.” She really should have known. He always did this crap.
“Among other places,” he murmured.
She heard a moan in the background and groaned. “Why do you do this to me? I’m starting to think I run this place and not you. And why did you pick up the phone if you weren’t done?!”
“We were done at the moment.”
She could hear him talking to Ms. Calley and wished that she couldn’t hear some of the things he was saying. “Jack, if you are not in this office in two hours, I am quitting.”
“Two hours! I need more time than that.”
“Too bad.” She ended the call and turned it to silent. She had the beginnings of a headache.
Her thoughts turned to Xavier Leo, the man currently pissed off at Jack. He was the oldest of the Leo brothers and the boss of Heat Construction. All three of them were panty creaming sexy and she had plenty of fantasies about them. Her bear even thought that they were screaming orgasm worthy. It was just a shame that she couldn’t have any fun with them, them being Kings of the Libaax Pride and her being Princess of the Northern Ursus Den.
She slumped back in her chair. ‘Why did I have to be so attracted to the feline trio? Why couldn’t they be Kodiaks or some other breed of ursus? I would just have to avoid them at all costs.’ In a way it sucked being the princess, and being the only sister of the twin alphas of the last pure blooded bear clan meant that you mated with the someone with an almost perfect pedigree of your own species. Sometimes it really sucked being her.
The office phone rang, signalling that she needed to get back to work.

* * *

Charise looked up from her computer screen as Lachlan Kale, Jacks’ father, old alpha of the Shanbeel Pride, and founder of Cougar Construction, walked through the door. “ Hello Mr. Kale, is there anything I can do for you today?”
“Yes, there is. You can tell me what that good-for-nothing son of mine is up to,” he said as he sat down in the chair across from her.
She flipped open the calendar on her desk and skimmed today’s entries. “According to his calendar he is supposed to be meeting with a new client, a Ms. Cassie Calley.”
Lachlan snorted. “More like you meant to say he was fucking her senseless.”
Charise sighed. “Yeah, most likely. So how did you find out?
“I’ve been made aware of the situation by a loud and irritable source.” He sighed and leaned back, rubbing his forehead. “A very loud source.”
“This source wouldn’t happen to be about 6 ½ feet tall, icy blue eyes, long black hair. and a bad attitude?”
“That would be correct. This source also informed me that if I didn’t leash my son soon then what happened to my son would be his fault.”
She laughed. “So in feline male code, that means that Jack would be neutered in a not so friendly way.”
“Pretty much and since Jack is my heir and only child the he can’t be neutered, even though I’ve been very tempted to do it myself several times. Which brings me to the reason that I am here. I know that this job has been your way of escaping from your den and those brothers of yours, but I’m going to have to bring someone in that can bring Jack to heel before he gets hurt.”
“You know that when I leave all of my clients will be going with me?” she asked, leaning back in her seat. She felt a headache coming on and she knew just who to blame for it, Jack and that annoying Xavier Leo.
“I know and it’s going to hurt us to lose you and that many clients. But Jack has to stop doing these things,” Lachlan said as Jack walked through the office door.
“Doing what things?” he asked sitting in the chair next to his father.
“Being a complete and utter asshat, thats what,” Charise grumbled.
“And how exactly am I being an asshat this time?” Jack chuckled, he was used to Charise calling him names. But then she was the only female that worked for him that he didn’t try to seduce. It might have been because she more like a sister to him, or the fact that her two older brothers would kill him if he so much as sniffed her wrong.
“I’ll be replacing Charise with a new secretary, someone who can keep your dick in your pants,” Lachlan explained.
“I doubt anyone can do that. Maybe his mate but she definitely doesn’t live here in Shelbyville,” Charise laughed.
“So you’re firing Charise because I love to have fun with the ladies?” Jack asked.
“Essentially yes.I’m sorry that this is happening but what did you expect to happen when you started seducing female clients from our competition? Every action has a consequence and unfortunately this is the consequence of your actions.”
Charise felt sorry for Jack but she knew her friend would persevere. She stood up and put her few meager things in one of the small shopping bags she kept for the trash can.She sighed and took off the pendant that hid her from other shifters. “Jack, it’s ok. We both need to grow up. I need to stop running from my fate and you need to stop being an unscrupulous playboy.”
“Took the words right out of my mouth,” Xavier said as he and his brothers walked through the door.
“Hello gentlemen,” Lachlan said, standing up to face them.
“Great more testosterone,” Charise sighed. She finished packing, her client list being the last thing she grabbed.
“Come to make sure that my father was dealing with me?” Jack growled.
Xavier's grin was feral. “Yeah and if he wasn't we would be.”
Xander, the middle brother, sniffed the air. “Something smells really good in here. Tantalizing and delicious.”
“Almost as if our mate had been here recently…” Xerxes said. Xander and Xerxes stared at Charise.
Xavier snorted. “The only female here is the pudgy secretary, so stop it.”
“Why thanks for that wonderful compliment! By the way this secretary has a name and I need to find a new job because of you.” Charise grabbed her stuff and headed for the door.
Xerxes stepped in front of her and gave her a panty dropping grin. “I’m not an asshole like my brother.”
“And?”
“I can help you carry your things out to your car,” he said.
“Thanks, but I’m a big girl and can take care of myself.” Charise smiled at him and darted around him. “I’ll see you later, Jack.”

Welcome to Millersburg!

Welcome to Millersburg! Don't mind the shifters, they won't bite... much. If you're looking for work Leo Construction and Cougar Construction are constantly hiring. Not into construction? Stop by The Blue Moon Bar & Grill, they are always looking for waitresses and the occasional busboy. Still not your forte? Cutie's Cupcakes or Bixby’s Restaurant might suite your needs. If you were wanting to work at the mine then you might as well move on. It will be closing down soon. Not into shifter owned businesses? Then look for work in the next town over, because Millersburg is mostly shifter owned and run.

If you're here for the 4th of July, we have the annual Catfish and BBQ Festival. We also have the Fall Festival in September. Planning on staying long? Stop by the Wolf Haven Bed & Breakfast.

Just visiting? We offer many hiking trails in the Hoosier National Forest. Just stop by the ranger station and grab a map. We offer plenty of camping space and have a number of cabins for rent. Remember to stop by Tea Table Rock and enjoy the view.

But please remember that not all animals you meet are shifters, we do have real bears, coyotes, wolves, and a number of other large animals roaming around the forest. Also, do not be alarmed if you see any men or women streaking through the forest.

Deleted Scene 1 - Triple Threat

Charise looked up from her computer and sat up straighter as Lachlan Kale, founder of Cougar Construction walked through the door. “Hello Mr. Kale. Is there anything I can get you?”
“Yes, you can tell me where my son is.” Mr. Kale sat down in the chair across from her.
“He is currently out with a client sir.”
“Meaning his out boinking some airheaded female. Do you remember why I hired you, Ms. Ursus?” He watched for me nod. “I believe I told you that if you couldn’t keep my son inline then I would have no place for you at Cougar Construction.”
“There is just one little problem that you seem to be forgetting.” Charise leaned back in her chair. “When I came to this company I brought all of the Ursus Clan with me. They bring all of their business to you. When I leave and they find out why I left then you will lose all of that business.”
“You honestly think I care about losing the business of some smelly bears.” Mr. Kale sniffed in disdain.
“Probably not but you do care about losing all that money. I know for a fact that at least four of our clan are planning on expanding and my brothers are planning on having an expansion put on their den. Your choice? But I would make it pretty fast because frankly the shit your son puts me through is enough to send any sane woman running.”
“I want you out of this office in an hour. Make sure your things are packed and out of here because you won’t be allowed to return.” Mr. Kale stood up and walked out of the office.
Charise leaned forward and sighed. She knew this day was coming but she figured it would be when Jack found his mate, not when his dear old daddy got his tail in a kink. She looked up as Jack walked through the door.
“What was Father doing here?” Jack looked at me questioningly.
“Firing me for not making you keep it in your pants.” I sighed and went to the closet for a box.
“I’m sorry Char. I didn’t know that he would do this.” Jack sat in the same chair his father had sat in. “I am going to do everything I can to fix this.”
“You can’t fix this Jack. If you tried to go against your father’s orders then you are facing severe punishment yourself.” She finished packing away her desk and reached for the last remaining items, the most important being her rolodex.
“I have lived under my father’s thumb for so long that I don’t ever remember being able to do whatever I want without him punishing me or someone else for my actions. I’m sorry. I knew that you had been hired to bring me to heel and I still did whatever I wanted. I knew that you relied on me for this job and I still screwed around like some adolescent teenager.”
“We both know I didn’t need this job. At least not for money. But we both know neither of us can run from our fate. This just means that I will be facing mine sooner than I had thought.” Charise picked up the pendant that she had worn for the last ten years. “I guess I won’t need to wear this anymore.” She yanked the pendant from around her neck and dropped it in the box.
   “But you need that Char.”
“I said we need to face our fate. I now need to face mine.”
The office door slammed open and they both looked up. Xavier and Xander Leo stood in the doorway.
“Can I help you gentlemen?” Jack stood up, blocking their view of Char.
“Just the man we are looking for.” Xander grinned maliciously as he stepped into the office.
“So you decided to come get your hate on and beat me for taking your clients?”
“Something like that.” Xavier snorted and took a deep breath. “And it smells like you’ve been around my mate recently too. I guess I get to beat you for that too.”
Xander took a deep breath and growled. “Not just your mate, brother, but mine as well. Are you sure it isn’t his little secretary?”
“I was in here earlier. The pudgy little human isn’t our mate.”
“Are you sure? I smell bear and I don’t think Ms. Calley was of the Ursus Clan.” Xander stepped closer to Jack and inhaled.
Jack growled at him, baring his teeth. “If I was with your mate then it was consensual. So back off!”
Charise had been watching them and when they called her a pudgy little human she had had enough. “Jack, I’m outta here. When you are done dealing with these mangy cats, call me and I will tell you where I will be at so you can send me whatever I left behind.” She picked up her box of things and shoved her way out of the office. She came upon brother number three, the youngest brother, Xerxes.
“Why hello, sweetheart. Can I help you take that box to your car?” Xerxes came away from the wall he was holding up and walked towards her.
“I‘m a big girl and can take care of myself. But thanks anyway.” Ch
Xerxes stalked into the office of Cougar Construction. “What the hell did you two say to that female?”
Xander and Xavier turned and looked at him. “What are you talking about?”
“The hot as hell bear that stormed out of here. She seemed to be madder than hell when she left, so I want to know what you said?”
“The only female that was in here was a human.” Xander looked perplexed and then swung his gaze to Jack.
“That human was actually Charise Ursus, princess of the Northern Ursus Clan, and you two called her a pudgy human. I have a feeling that that was the last straw after the day she has dealt with.” Jack sat down in Char’s chair.
   “What do you mean?”
“Well if she is your mate then you are going to have one hell of a fight on your hands. First, one of you came in and gave her shit about me stealing Ms. Calley away from you.”
Xavier cleared his throat. “That would have been me.”
“And then my father comes in here and fires her for my philandering ways. And then you two come in and proceed to call her a pudgy human.”
“You have got to be kidding me! How could you two mistake that gorgeous woman as nothing more than a pudgy human!” Xerxes growled and hit the wall.
“Hey! Don’t abuse my walls! I have to work here you know.” Jack growled.
“Why couldn’t I tell she was a bear earlier? But we could smell her now?” Xavier looked at Jack curiously.
“She’s had to wear a veiling pendant for the last couple of years due to an overzealous admirer.” Jack leaned back. “But now that all of this has happened, she will be going home to her two older brothers, those rule abiding pain-in-the-asses, that rule the Northern Ursus clan.”
“And that means?” Xander sat down in the chair across from Jack.
“That her brothers will be making her mate to the only son of the Southern Ursus Clan. But if her mate showed up and claimed her before she was forced into this mating then they couldn’t break that.”
Xerxes leaned on the desk. “Her brothers are going to force her into a mating with some bear from the Southern Clan?”
Jack sighed. “Yeah. I thought I had it bad with my parents, but her brothers are ten times worse than them. They are sticklers for tradition. She is the last pure blooded bear of the entire Ursus species and they expect her to mate with Ares, and seal a truce between the two clans.”
“We aren’t going to let that happen, ever.” Xavier growled and his eyes flashed to their golden hue.
“Then I suggest you go after her instead of sitting here talking to me.” Jack laughed as all three of the growled and stormed out of his office.
